SOCIAL & GUEST PROGRAMMES

A social programme will provide an opportunity for informal contacts and discussions among the participants. The events will include Welcome reception, Concert and Wellness night. The conference trip will include a visit of some local heritage places and Conference dinner. The costs of social programme have been included in the conference registration fees.

Programme for accompanying persons will be organised to take advantage of the special atmosphere of Western Bohemian region - its historical monuments, and scenic beauties.

The programme will include:
  • Guided Mariánské Lázně spa tour
  • Handmade decoration of gingerbread workshop
  • Trip to Kladská - pond and hunting-lodge in the centre of protected landscape area Slavkov Forest (sports shoes is higly recommended)
  • Visit of the largest historic Czech Riding School - Světce by Tachov
  • Bor u Tachova – visit of loreto chapel
  • Visit of castle Horšovský Týn
  • Visit the town of Domažlice
  • Wednesday Conference Trip - Visit the town of Cheb and dinner in Restaurant Metternich (comfortable clothes and shoes recommended)
  • Social Conference programme

Opening Ceremony & Welcome Reception
Sunday - 11th May 2014 from 6.30 p.m.

The conference opening ceremony will take place at the "Casino" conference centre during the Welcome Drink on Sunday evening from 6.30 p.m. The George Hevesy Medal Award 2014 Ceremony will be presented at the opening session from 7.00 p.m. Welcome reception will be held from 8.00 p.m.


Concert "Radiochemist plays Chopin"
Monday - 12th May 2014 from 8.00 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.

For "us" Marianske Lazne means radiochemistry. For the majority, Marianske Lazne mean spa and Chopin, the latter meaning backed strongly by the well-known Fryderyk Chopin Festival. By this concert, we would like to link this tradition with the successful concert "Chemists in Music - Musicians in Chemistry" organised during the previous conference.

  • Wellness Night
    Tuesday - 13th May 2014 from 7.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m.

    The programme of Wellness night will start at the “Casino” conference centre with the small refreshment and the spa presentation. All participants may enjoy a tasting of the mineral waters and paraffin wraps on hands, and afterwards, they may also take the advantage of the relaxation in one of 3 offered spa treatments in “Nové Lázně - Centrální Lázně - Hvězda buildings.

    The programme is available for the conference participants and registered accompanying persons only. The specification of the spa treatments should be made by each participant on the conference registration page.

    Wednesday - 14th May 2014 from 2.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m.


    Radiochemistry Jam Band Session
    Thursday - 15th May 2014 from 8.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.

    It is well-known fact that considerable number of scientists can play some instrument. Let´s share this passion together during this evening.

    Participants of RadChem 2014 are welcome to reveal their passion for music by actively taking part in the Radiochemistry Jam Band. Programme will consist of solo, as well as ensemble performances and/or improvisation. Music of different styles and time periods could be included. All active participants are encouraged to bring their own instruments, if possible. Accompaniment-providing piano will be available. Bigger instruments loans may be negotiable - indicate the need during the registration.
    Our main intention is to achieve a bond on a different level among us while creating an unusual lasting experience.
